History
As a result of recommendations of the 1966-67 CN/CP Study Report on the communications requirements for the Canadian Forces, the mobile communications team at Trenton and the mobile air traffic control and navaids team from Namao were amalgamated and formed into one unit on 1 October 1969. To satisfy both the Telecom and ATC hierarchy, the unit was named Air Transportable Communications and Control Team (ATCCT).
On 1 Apr 79 after ten years as a team, ATCCT was finally made into a unit thus fulfilling the original recommendation of the CN/CP Study Report. The new name became Air Transportable Communication and Control Unit (ATCCU). In 1993, the unit's name was officially changed to its current title of 8 Air Communication and Control Squadron (8 ACCS). The Squadron will celebrate 40 years in 2009.

Suite aux recommandations du rapport de la 1966-67 Étude de CN/CP sur les exigences (conditions) de communications pour les Forces canadiennes, l'équipe de communications mobile à Trenton et l'équipe mobile de contrôle de trafic aérienne et de navaids de Namao a été amalgamée et ont formée une unité le 1 octobre 1969. Pour donner satisfaction aux hiérarchies de Télécommunication et Contrôle de trafic aérienne, l'unité a été nommée l'Équipe Aérotransportable de Communications et de Contrôle (EACC).
Le 1 avril 79 après dix ans comme une équipe, l’unité EACC a finalement été créée accomplissant ainsi la recommandation originale du Rapport d'Étude de CN/CP. Le nom de l’unité et devenu l'Unité Aérotransportable de Communication et de Control (UACC). En 1993, le nom de l'unité a été officiellement changé à son titre actuel de 8e Escadron de Communication et de Contrôle Aérienne (8 ECCA). L'Escadron célébrera 40 ans en 2009.
